Founded in 1998 by violinist and teacher Paul Leder, Spencer Brook Strings began as a way to help students find quality instruments. Since then, we’ve grown into a thriving hub for the stringed instrument community.

The Name “Spencer Brook Strings”
The name is inspired by Spencer Brook, a small stream in Concord, MA. Paul Leder once led a youth orchestra that often gathered near the brook, leading to the name “Spencer Brook Youth Orchestra” and the creation of the “Spencer Brook Music Festival”. The name honors the students, colleagues, and mentors who taught us to love everything about stringed instruments.
