Frequently Asked
Questions
Rentals, repairs, sizing and returns — the things families ask us most.
Everything you need: violin, bow, rosin and case. Also important support: insurance, maintenance (service at school for school programs), size changes, credit towards purchase (50% of your rental payments). Shoulder rests, music stands and other accessories are not included — they are yours to keep with a one-time fee.
School-year and annual (12-month) plans save about a month or two compared to renting monthly. Small bass rentals save about two or three months. But you have to pay for the whole term in advance.
You are not stuck. If you return the instrument early you pay only for the months you had the instrument, and we will refund the unused time.
Insurance covers accidental damage or theft. Intentional damage or abuse is not covered.
If your instrument is damaged please contact us right away. We will arrange the fix — whether sending you a new string for the teacher to install, or repairing the instrument at school on our service visit. In most instances you won’t have to wait more than one week for the solution. Don’t try to fix it yourself!
For school programs we will pick it up. Near the end of the school year we will email instructions about where to leave the instrument at the school. For other rentals (or if you miss the school pick-up) you need to return it to our shop.
